For Your Health: The Fitnessista's Schweaty...
This workout is meant to be done circuit-style, quickly moving from one workout to the next with hardly any rest in between exercises. Complete one set of each workout in a circuit, and then repeat 1-2 more times for a total of 2-3 sets of each exercise, before moving to the next circuit. [For example, for the first circuit, you’ll do 15 step ups on each side, 12-15 bent-over rows, 12-15 lunges...

For Your Health/Self-Esteem: 30 Positive...
My body is a gift (from God, from nature, etc.) My body is an instrument, not an ornament. I love my (name your favorite body part). Trust me, you have something you like about your body! Eyes? Toes? Hair? Fingernails? The number on the scale does not determine my self-worth. Likewise, the size of my jeans does not dictate my happiness. I can have a good day even when I’m not comfortable...

Current Events: Helping Famine-Stricken Somalia,... →
If only helping the people starving in Somalia were as simple as sending food. In a July 22 Op-Ed by U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon, he pleaded with readers: That is why I reach out today: to focus global attention on this crisis, to sound the alarm and to call on the world’s people to help Somalia in this moment of greatest need. To save the lives of the people at risk — the vast majority of them...

Recipe: Caramelized Peach Salad
Two weeks ago, I went to Los Angeles for a wedding with my boyfriend. During our free time we went on a date and I picked the restaurant. I wanted to try some local fare but all I could find were chain restaurants. One of my favorite chains is California Pizza Kitchen.  They just introduced a delicious Caramelized Peach Salad that I could not stop talking about. As soon as I flew back home, I new...

I love Sam’s Club. My parents have been members since 1999. Now that I am on vacation visiting my parents I visit Sam’s Club once a week...

Fashion Attack! Love Dresses & Gowns? Be Prepared...
Over 80% of my wardrobe consists of dresses. No, I am not kidding. I love dresses because they are feminine, don’t require too much work when you are getting dressed, and they are easy to pee in (Haha on the last comment. I am serious though. I have a very small bladder). My eyes literally lit up when Virgo’s Lounge released their Resort Collection.  This collection is...

Fitness to the Test: FitSugar's "Ways NOT to Hate...
I always have friends say that they hate going to they gym. If I offer to go with them to make their experience more a little more enjoyable, I am greeted with a “I don’t have time.” or “I don’t want to workout with you, you are going to kill me.” I wasn’t always in love with the gym and fitness! There was a time that I didn’t go at all! I learned...

Katherine's Life & Fashion Attack! What I Wore to...
This past Saturday, a couple of friends and I headed to the 2011 Chicago Ghanafest Afterset at Art Revolution. It took awhile to get things started, the bartender was extra wack, and the venue got so hot it was hard to breathe. The DJ did play good music though. It definitely made me excited for my upcoming trip to Ghana in a week.   Pictured in the white is the fashionista blogger, EffMePumps,...

Katherine's Life... Wine Tasting in the Suburbs (&...
This past weekend my mom, miniature poodle, and I headed out for wine and beer tasting at the new local park. The event was entitled, The Grape Escape. This park is unique because it was created from an accumulation of 80 years of trash. It is a closed landfill that was first owned by the National Brick Co. in the 1920s. Here is my mom and poodle. Our favorite booth was the pearl booth....
