Bienvendos! My name is Katherine N. and I'm a 20-something U.S. Diplomat. This blog is a mix of my love of healthy eating, exercise, ramblings and fashion. I started this blog because I am a certified wanderlust. Happy Friday: Diplomatic Receptions and Frank Ocean’s “Lost”

Last night I had the absolute time of my life and my first “I am a diplomat in Mexico” moment at reception that was hosted by the U.S. Consulate. Using a mix of Spanish and English I was able to talk to really amazing Mexicans and Americans who are and have had an astounding impact in Ciudad Juarez despite it’s negative reputation. The city is really picking up. People are trying to change the perception of the city, pre-violence. Even though I am a self-declared introvert, when it is time to talk to people and be diplomatic in the name of a great cause, bettering relations between the U.S. and Mexico I can really step outside of myself.

For some reason Frank Ocean’s song “Lost” was the first song I played while I thought about the reception and my four weeks here in Mexico. The lyrics have nothing to do with the happiness I feel right now, but the beat of the song makes me happy that where I am with my life right now. Yesterday, I didn’t wake up with a positive attitude, but I am feeling great this evening.
