Healthy Glow: Healthy Eating, La Mode & Ramblings

Bienvendos! My name is Katherine N. and I'm a 20-something U.S. Diplomat. This blog is a mix of my love of healthy eating, exercise, ramblings and fashion. I started this blog because I am a certified wanderlust. I have traveled and eaten the cuisines of many countries including: Ghana (where my family is from & where I went to University), Mexico, the Netherlands, South Korea, Malaysia, Canada, Puerto Rico, England, Canada, at least 20 U.S. States, Mexico, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Singapore, Indonesia...just to name a few. Since my supposed break from shopping which lasted 3 months (I broke when I found Tres Mariposas) and bought a classic Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Classic Q Fran’. Hey! Give me a break the rest of my things are sitting in a warehouse waiting to be cleared through Mexico and it is going to take months. to arrive to my home!

Anyway, besides that bag, I have been channeling all of my money into savings, my future, getting back into art (I will save that for another post), and interior decorating!

I will be living in my home in Mexico for the next two years and I wanted to take  away the sterile feel of the house, decorate it, and make it my own!

While I have been looking in stores around Mexico and hopping accross the border into New Mexico and Texas for items to make my space my own.

The hardest things for me to find have been rugs and paintings. Last night, before going to bed I checked Gilt.com’s Home Section. Just my luck I found an artist that I am in love with, Parvez Taj.

Gilt.com describes artist Parvez Tajn as “…a visionary artist and pioneer of UV inks as a fine art medium. To achieve his original images, he freely mixes photography, water/acrylic paints, and UV inks with a variety of substrates such as aluminum, canvas, bamboo, and recycled woods to create his signature style. Born in Canada, Taj currently lives and works in Los Angeles. To achieve his original images, he freely mixes photography, water-based and acrylic paints, and UV inks with a variety of substrates such as aluminum, canvas, bamboo, and recycled woods to create his signature style. Each of these pieces is an example of his out-of-the-box thinking and international inspiration — we’re sure you’ll be inspired too.”

Below are some of my favorite pieces by Mr. Tajn:

This last piece is my personal favorite.

I bought a piece by him called “Levee” which is on a 32x24 piece of aluminum and I will recieve it in December.

Happy Friday!
