I am a yuppie aka a young middle-class professional. A yuppie is usually classified by a person who has a big girl career, drives a gas efficient SUV, has a pet, enjoys workouts such as Zumba, investing, and the arts. However, the best marker of yuppie is their excitement regarding farmer’s markets. Since moving back to the DC area, one of my favorite markets is the Falls Church, VA farmers market.

It is located just minutes from Washington, D.C. and Metro accessible from the East and West Falls Church Metro stations. Falls Church City’s Farmers Market is the perfect event to welcome in the summer season!

The market is amazing! It is open year round and features more than 15-40 local farmers who offer fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables, cheeses, meats, baked goods, plants, and wine.

In fact the the Falls Church Farmers Market was voted third best among medium-size markets across the country in the 2011 “America’s Favorite Farmers Market” contest sponsored by the American Farmland Trust, and was Number One vote getter of medium-size markets in Virginia.

What makes their market special is the Chef Series. The Series brings local Washington DC area restaurants into the Market to develop recipes using local, seasonal food showcasing the bounty of the Mid-Atlantic region.
