After feeling as sick almost all week, I am just happy I made it through the week. I didn’t go out all week, which is a huge change since I have made it a point to meet new people as much as possible since this year has started. Anyway, this song has been on repeat on my computer for about a day and a half.

I am at work today, and I have nothing to complain about. I am actually feeling quite happy being able to catch up on work today since I am not engaged in my usual work. Today, work is going at my speed. As I work, I am catching up on my favorite podcasts, spoken word poetry, buying a present for a local Mexican child (we have adopt-a-child for Christmas program at work, yay!), and listening to news.
I am planning on going to the gym tonight, painting, and listening to music. Tomorrow, I go out dancing. Have a great day/weekend everyone!

Happy Friday: Diplomatic Receptions and Frank Ocean’s “Lost”
Last night I had the absolute time of my life and my first “I am a diplomat in Mexico” moment at reception that was hosted by the U.S. Consulate. Using a mix of Spanish and English I was able to talk to really amazing Mexicans and Americans who are and have had an astounding impact in Ciudad Juarez despite it’s negative reputation. The city is really picking up. People are trying to change the perception of the city, pre-violence. Even though I am a self-declared introvert, when it is time to talk to people and be diplomatic in the name of a great cause, bettering relations between the U.S. and Mexico I can really step outside of myself.
For some reason Frank Ocean’s song “Lost” was the first song I played while I thought about the reception and my four weeks here in Mexico. The lyrics have nothing to do with the happiness I feel right now, but the beat of the song makes me happy that where I am with my life right now. Yesterday, I didn’t wake up with a positive attitude, but I am feeling great this evening.

I plan to enjoy my weekend. The picture is of my favorite Ecuadorian beer, Pilsener. The beer is a Pale Lager beer by Cervecería Nacional Ecuador. I think I liked it because it tasted like a Ghanaian Star Beer.
